Spring Meeting „The Power of Where. Spatial insights from survey data"
Call for paper
We invite you to submit abstracts for a two-day spring meeting titled "The Power of Where: Spatial Insights from Survey Data." The meeting is jointly organized by the Bundesinstitut für Bau-, Stadt- und Raumforschung (BBSR), Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), and SOEP-RegioHub at Bielefeld University. Conceived as a lunch-to-lunch event, the meeting will be held in person at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Germany from February 29 to March 1, 2024.
We welcome scholars who integrate spatial and survey data across a broad range of disciplines, including but not limited to geography, sociology, economics, planning, and political science. Contributions can range from empirical findings to theoretical reflections and methodological discussions. The workshop aims to foster a constructive exchange of ideas; we especially encourage doctoral candidates and early-career scholars to present their ongoing research.
Please submit abstracts of no more than 300 words to Daniel Meyer at daniel.meyer@bbr.bund.de by November 15, 2023. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by November 30, 2023.
Enclosed, please find the Call for Abstracts PDF document (accessible); more information also via http://www.diw.de/Spatial_JSM. We encourage you to share this call for abstracts with colleagues who may be interested in contributing to the meeting.
Kind regards,
The Organizing Team: Daniel Meyer (BBSR), Antonia Milbert (BBSR), Jan Goebel (DIW Berlin – SOEP), Simon Kühne (Bielefeld University), Julia Binder (BTU)

The Conference and training „Utopia Kulturelle Bildung“ explores the potential of aesthetic and utopian practice in transformation processes in Lusatia. In the face of pressing crises, ideas for alternatives and methods are needed to accompany the upcoming change.
Cultural education promotes co-design and participation through educational programs and self-education with creative and artistic media. How can cultural education, art and culture support bottom-up processes in the transformation region? What role do utopias from the arts, digital pioneers and cultural education events with art and media play here?
