Biography

Elisabeth Stürmer joined BTU Cottbus as a lecturer in October 2022. She works at the Federal Institute für Reserach on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (Competence Center for Regional Development) in Cottbus. Her research primarily focuses on the examination of living conditions in coal regions and the strategies employed to navigate the challenges of structural transformation.

Elisabeth Stürmer pursued her academic studies in sociology at both the Technische Universität Chemnitz and the Philipps-Universität Marburg, specializing in social structural analysis and demography. Since 2012, she has been dedicated to her academic pursuits, focusing on instructing students in research methodologies at various universities and contributing to a diverse array of projects. These endeavors have included nationwide investigations as well as a series of regional studies and social spatial analyses in both urban and rural settings.
