The engineering mechanics 1 defines the terms force, moment, section force and section moment and its technical applications. Emphasis of the course will be made on methods to determine the equilibrium of forces on plane and spatial rigid structures. The elements used for static calculations such as columns and beams will be introduced. The main aim of  the course is to impart basic knowledge for analysing, interpreting and verifying simple statistical models.
