STEM Women's Scholarship enters its second round with eight new scholarship holders
The applicants qualified for the scholarship thanks to their high level of motivation, ambition and commitment in various areas. Funding is provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's (BMBF) Women Professors Program III, for which BTU had successfully applied.
The 2023 MINT scholarships went to
in Faculty 1 - STEM - Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology to
Celina Hauschild, Computer Science study programme
Logical thinking and Mathematics are anything but boring for Celina Hauschild. She will be able to live out her passion for learning to the full in the next 6 semesters of her computer science degree.
Celine Strafe, Computer Science study programme
Computer Science has played an important role for Celine Strafe since elementary school. Initially active in a computer club, she moved to BTU after a year working at the tax office, where she can apply the knowledge she gained from her self-study.
Clara Herbrich, Artificial Intelligence study programme
As a sportswoman, Clara Herbrich brings a good dose of ambition to the table. She wants to use her personal interest in artificial intelligence and medicine to improve the diagnostics, therapy and prevention of various diseases.
in Faculty 2 - Environment and Natural Sciences:
Annika Wilke, Biotechnology study programme
Annika Wilke discovered her passion for natural sciences at an early age. Her diverse interests led her to study biotechnology, which combines many disciplines.
Klara Marx, Biotechnology study programme
Klara Marx became aware of BTU through a conversation with an Electrical Engineering student. Having grown up on an organic farm, she has experience of nature and the environment, which will help her in her biotechnology studies.
Leni May, Environmental and Resource Management study programme
She completed her Abitur bilingually. This made it clear that she wanted to choose an English-language study programme. She can optimally combine her interest in environmental protection with her skills on the ERM study programme.
Lena Berthold, Materials Chemistry study programme
Internships at another university sparked Lena Berthold's interest in polymer chemistry. The pleasant study conditions in Senftenberg convinced her to study materials chemistry.
in Faculty 3 - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Energy Systems:
Smilla Kuhnt, study programme Medical Engineering
Smilla Kuhnt wants to cleverly combine medicine and engineering in her studies. This will allow her to combine her enthusiasm for math and Physics with topics in medicine and serve her interests in the best possible way.
The scholarships were presented by Grit Scheppan, Head of the Department of Studies and Teaching, and Birgit Hendrischke, the University's Central Equal Opportunities Officer. Both the STEM ambassadors and the previous STEM scholarship holders gave "the newcomers" a warm welcome. They showed them how well they are networked with each other and that they will provide them with good and reliable support over the next two semesters.
