FIRST LEGO League: Who will take part in the international robotics and research competition?
Anyone who is enthusiastic about Lego and exciting tasks and enjoys tinkering and experimenting together is very welcome. The BTU team supervised by students for the FIRST LEGO League meets every Tuesday from 4 to 5.30 p.m. at the university's main campus in Building 3A, Room 185d, Siemens-Halske-Ring 14, 03046 Cottbus.
The FIRST Lego League educational programmeaccompanies and inspires pupils over several years and has a lasting, positive impact on their skills in the STEM fields, teamwork and communication. Accompanied by coaches, the children and young people explore a new topic in teams every year. These are real, scientific problems from a wide range of areas such as recycling, energy or sustainable urban development. Within the programme, there are two offers, Explore and Challenge, which are aimed at different age groups.
Under the motto UNEARTHED (unearthed), children and young people in Germany, Austria and Switzerland go on an exciting research trip into the past. The STEM education programme invites school classes, working groups and independent teams to go on a treasure hunt as archaeologists, uncover historical secrets and use modern technology to gain new perspectives on ancient cultures.
At the end of the season, the teams face a jury in the regional competition and present their results. The best teams receive attractive prizes and take part in national competitions. School teams from the entire region will once again compete in the "Lusatia-Spreewald" regional competition on 24 January 2026 in the central lecture hall building of the BTU in Cottbus.
FIRST LEGO League is an international educational programme that was launched in 1998 by the American foundation FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and LEGO. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the programme has been organised by the non-profit organisation HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. since 2002.
