BTU Master's students give their study programmes top marks

Excellent results in the current ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) for Master's degree programmes at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) in the field of engineering.

The Master's degree programmesMechanical Engineering, Power Engineering and Hybrid Electric Propulsionreceived an average of 4 out of 5 points from their students in the ten categories to be assessed. In the subjectsUrban and Regional Planning and Urban Design and Sustaiable Revitalisation the Master's students awarded an average of 4.2 points. In the colour scale of the renowned Germany-wide ranking, both subject groups reached the top group marked in green in almost all areas. The complete CHE Master's ranking is now available at HeyStudium on ZEIT ONLINE at: www.heystudium.de/masterranking.

The students gave top marks to the general study situation and study organisation as well as the support provided during their studies and the range of courses on offer. In addition, digital courses and the practical and research-orientation of teaching received excellent ratings. In particular, the support provided during the transition from the Bachelor's to the Master's degree programme and the supervisors during the degree programme were highlighted in both groups of degree programmes. Support for studying abroad was also included in the catalogue of criteria with very good ratings.

Prof. Dr Peer Schmidt, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, says: "Our students are introduced to the great challenges of our time with exciting topics from research practice and are also in demand as experts in the international research area when they graduate. This success in the core area of a university of technology - engineering sciences - is particularly valuable for us. I would like to thank all the teaching staff and other stakeholders at BTU for their extraordinary commitment to the successful design of the study programmes!"

CHE Master's ranking at HeyStudium and ZEIT CAMPUS

The most comprehensive ranking of Master's degree programmes in Germany has been published since 2015 and provides information on 39 subjects. In addition to facts on the areas of study, teaching and research, the ranking includes students' judgements of their universities. The results of the student survey on the general study situation are clearly presented using a 5-star scale. This year's survey focussed on the subjects of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Process Engineering (universities) and Mechanical Engineering/Materials Engineering (HAW/dual universities), Psychology (at universities). More than 8,000 students took part.

The magazine ZEIT Campus publishes a selection of the results of the CHE Master's Ranking for the subjects in the current issue. The magazine will be available online and in stores from 11 December.
