EIZ SPARK Inspire | Startups in the energy sector

Our keynote speakers Simon Dierks and Dr Koustubh Dube will provide exciting insights into their work:

Simon has been at home in the European start-up scene for more than ten years. He started out in public funding for deep tech start-ups and then moved on to a (European-funded) green tech start-up that combines a nature-based solution with IoT (Internet of Things) to clean and cool the air in cities. Simon has been Head of Marketing at Carbon13 since autumn 2022 and has now accompanied more than 500 climate tech founders in the Venture Builder programmes in Cambridge (UK) and Berlin.

Koustubh is a chemist specialising in inorganic and polymer chemistry. After completing his PhD at Rutgers University, he worked as a postdoc at the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials and the Helmholtz Centre Hereon. He also gained industry experience as a staff scientist in the research and development facilities of two Fortune 500 companies, L'Oreal and Avery Dennison. Driven by a desire to do something about climate change, he became one of the co-founders of Climalyst, a startup company focused on reducing the energy required for carbon capture.

Dr Hamdy Abdelaty and Dr Jakob Pohlisch from EIZ hosted the event and presented EIZ SPARK's start-up support services. Knowledge and science-based entrepreneurship is crucial for the implementation of a sustainable energy transition and drives innovation and practical solutions in this sector.

Over pretzels and networking, contacts were made, experiences exchanged and joint projects discussed!
