Forgotten as the Future of a Field of Research?! Interdisziplinärer Workshop zur Entwicklung von Eckpunkten einer vergessenssensiblen Biographieforschung
Runtime
2/2024 until 1/2025
Biographical research is becoming increasingly important in the study of social crises and their effects. Especially in times of accelerated social change, it is our own and others' biographies that provide important guidance for shaping individual and social life. Biographies are constituted in the dialectic of remembering and forgetting. However, biographical research has so far been dominated by a theoretical and empirical examination of memory. Little attention has been paid to forgetting. Its significance for the shaping of uncertain individual and social futures remains largely unexplored.
The scoping workshop addresses this issue and aims to bring together social and cultural science perspectives of interdisciplinary memory research, which has long been concerned with forgetting, with narrative, biographical and educational perspectives of biographical research in order to develop a new field of research in forgetting-sensitive biographical research based on their intersections. The results of the workshop will be published in a position paper.
