Short vita
Born in 1982 in Münster in southern Hesse, I studied Social Work in Darmstadt and Berlin after graduating from high school. I completed my studies with a diploma thesis in which I qualitatively investigated the media usage behaviour of young people living on the street.
I then worked as a social education worker in a pre-vocational training programme and studied media studies on the Communication and Language study programme at the TU Berlin. I completed my studies with a master's thesis on the acceptance of USK age labelling.
During this time, I was drawn to the field of open child and youth work, where I initially worked in two youth leisure centres in Brandenburg. After completing my studies, I took over the management of the media competence centre in Berlin Steglitz-Zehlendorf. At the same time, I began my doctoral studies on the topic of social media in open child and youth work. In the numerous Media Pedagogy projects and school workshops that I carried out during this time, I realised that I really enjoyed teaching and imparting knowledge. That's why I continued my education at the University of Postdam in higher education didactics. From November 2014, I was then able to contribute and apply the expertise I had gained in practice, teaching and research at the HAWK in Holzminden as a teacher for special tasks. In 2019, I had the opportunity to change my perspective by moving to the University of Cologne as a lecturer for special tasks in the Intermedia study programme. At the same time, I continued to work on my doctoral project. After completing my dissertation, I briefly held the professorship for Theories and Concepts of Social Work with a focus on child and youth welfare at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences and am now a professor of Social Work at BTU Cottbus.
