Mentoring Programme for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers

In March 2022 the next program year of the Viadrina Mentoring and Coaching Programme for female, trans*, inter* and (other) non-binary doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers will be launched. The application period is open until January 31, 2022.

The program addresses female, trans*, inter* and (other) non-binary doctoral candidates in the final stage of their PhD (e.g. planning to obtain their PhD in 2022), and postdoctoral researchers and heads of junior research groups, who would like to actively take part in the shaping of their own biography and career. The precondition for an application is the membership of a university or of a non-university research institution in the state of Brandenburg.

The 12-months-mentoring programme provides an individual mentoring relationship, workshops and individual coaching. These offers enable participants to plan systematically their next career steps and to prepare for evaluation and application processes. Moreover, a framework program provides the opportunity to develop networks within the scientific community. International researchers get deeper insights into requirements, conditions, structures and proceedings in the German-speaking scientific community.

Equal opportunities are an important issue to us. The selection committee is considering diverse living conditions such as family responsibilities, chronic diseases or disabilities. Applications from doctoral candidates and postdocs with a non-academic family background and with migration experience, from people of colour or from applicants who want to reintegrate into their scientific career or who reintegrated into their scientific career after a break are explicitly welcome.

The mentoring relationship and individual coaching can be offered in English language. However, to draw your personal maximum benefit from all elements of the program, it is highly recommended to understand spoken German language well (level B2), and to be able to actively participate in conversations. If you have doubts whether your German language skills are sufficient, do not hesitate to contact us.

Please find more details about the program and application on our website.
