BAM Hosts Inaugural [‘skai]-lab Summer School for Sustainable Aviation

The [‘skai]-lab cooperation project reached a significant milestone last week with the successful completion of its first Summer School. Held at the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM), the event brought together doctoral researchers and supervisors from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, the DLR Institute of Electrified Aero Engines, and BAM.

This unique qualification programme is designed for the next generation of interdisciplinary researchers in the fields of aviation, materials science, and manufacturing. Through the Graduate Research School (GRS), BTU funds three doctoral positions within the project, with DLR and BAM each supporting an additional three doctoral researchers.

The Summer School focused on scientific exchange and training regarding the quality control, condition monitoring, and operational safety of additively manufactured components for electrified aviation propulsion systems. In addition to technical sessions, the programme offered various opportunities for networking and interdisciplinary collaboration between the partner institutions.

The GRS would like to thank the organisers at BAM for hosting this successful event. The next [‘skai]-lab Summer School is scheduled to take place in 2027 at BTU in Cottbus.
