Professional Internship

A professional internship of at least eight weeks in an external institution is part of the Master's program (module description 12467). It can be taken during the lecture-free period. A time-limited task is to be worked on using methods from computer science.

You need a supervisor in the company. The internship task should be set in consultation with the mentor. The professional internship must be reported to the student secretary's office by form prior to commencement. An internship report must be submitted no later than 8 weeks after completion of the internship. The internship and the report are evaluated by the supervisor and the mentor. If the assessment is positive, the mentor will inform the Student Secretariat that the professional internship has been successfully completed. It is recommended to keep a diary during the internship.

Please refer to the Internship Regulations (Appendix 4 of the PO) for the exact regulations regarding the professional internship.

If you want to do a longer internship (e.g. 6 months), you can take a leave of absence. The semester will then not be counted up.

Internships abroad are of course also possible. Information can be obtained from the LEONARDO office in Brandenburg or from IAESTE ( InternationalAssociation forthe Exchange ofStudentsfor TechnicalExperience).

Exceptions

In justified cases, e.g. if no adequate internship place can be found, the professional internship can be replaced by a project work - with appropriate extent - at the chairs of computer science. The examination board as well as the mentor must agree.

In special exceptional cases, the professional internship can be waived. In this case, 64 instead of 54 credit points must be earned in the three computer science complexes. The examination board and the mentor must agree. Corresponding exceptional cases are, for example, relevant professional internships or successfully completed professional internships in other study programs (also in the preceding Bachelor's program).

Current internship offers

Current internship offers can be found, among other places, on the internship page of the Computer Science Student Council as well as on the pages of the Career Center of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

When looking for a suitable internship, it may be worthwhile to stop by the Career Center's internship placement office in the cafeteria building (glassed-in office to the left of the passage to the cafeteria). An appointment can be made online.

Furthermore, there is the mailing list it-jobs, through which internship offers are also forwarded. You can register here as a recipient of this list.
