From Lusatia to Alicante: building bridges between innovation ecosystems
From 10 to 12 February 2026, the Lausitz Science Park team joined representatives from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the State Chancellery of Brandenburg on a delegation trip to Spain. The aim of the visit was to exchange ideas with international partners and learn about successful models of science parks and regional innovation ecosystems.
The delegation was received in Alicante by Honorary Consul Nuria von Kapff. The subsequent discussion with Esteban Pelayo, Manager of the Parque Científico de Alicante (PCA), opened up initial prospects for future cooperation between the regions.
During the visit, the Lusatian team presented the development and objectives of the Science Park. In addition, Sven Tischer from the State Chancellery explained the strategy for the structural transformation of Lusatia and emphasised the central role of science, research and innovation in this process.
Visits to the Atalayas Ciudad Empresarial and Parque Científico de la UMH-Elche
The science park in Alicante provided comprehensive insights into its support services for start-ups, services for local companies and property and financing models. The development of spin-offs and business processes was also presented. Site visits to local companies made it possible to experience innovation along the entire value chain first-hand.
The delegation also learnt about other innovation and industrial ecosystems in the region, including the Atalayas Ciudad Empresarial and the Parque Científico de la UMH. The impressions gained from these different structures provided valuable impetus for the further development of the Lausitz Science Park.
The trip emphasises the importance of international cooperation for successful transformation processes. The exchange that has already begun is to be intensified in future and translated into concrete joint projects.
