Lecture and discussion evening: Artificial intelligence for the structural change in Lusatia

In the public lecture series "Open BTU", three experts will shed light on the role of AI for structural change in the region on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 5:30 p.m., at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU).

All interested parties are invited to the Central Lecture Hall Building on the BTU's central campus in Cottbus, Audimax 2. Registration is not required. Admission is free.
The speakers are:
Dr. Constanze Tschöpe
- Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, Group Leader Machine Learning and Data Analysis
Dr. Steffen Ortmann - Carl-Thiem-Klinikum Cottbus gGmbH (CTK), Head & Authorized Representative Thiem-Research GmbH, Coordination Science CTK
Dr. Svetlana Meissner - BTU, Department of Wireless Systems, AI Trainer, Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Spreeland.

1st lecture
Artificial Intelligence for an Industry of the Future

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become ubiquitous. What role does it play in Industry 4.0? What contribution can it make specifically to structural change? How can it work together with humans to solve current problems in an industrial context? Will the use of AI cost jobs? The lecture will shed light on these questions, give an insight into the current activities of the Fraunhofer project group "Cognitive Material Diagnostics" at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and present project examples.

2nd lecture
Artificial intelligence as a driver of tomorrow's healthcare

Modern healthcare has long been based on comprehensive support from IT systems, and not just since the dawn of the age of digitalization. Using innovative technologies and methods of artificial intelligence, medical data can be collected and evaluated automatically - opening up completely new ways to better support doctors, therapists, nurses and, above all, the patients themselves - at any time and in any place, whether in a hospital or at home. The basis for this is countless data that we now generate and communicate as a matter of course in our daily lives, including in electronic medical records, smartphones, wearable devices, smartwatches, intelligent implants, etc.

3rd lecture
AI chatbots and robotics: how these technologies can boost productivity in the mid-market

Chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Google Bard, are viral phenomena and the representatives of the so-called Great Language Models. They are highly valuable in a wide range of use cases, such as content design and editing, brainstorming, programming assistance, and learning new topics. But how can we get chatbots to do exactly what we want? We'll discuss how AI-based chatbots and robotics can be easily and quickly integrated in the midmarket, the productivity benefits they offer, and how to choose the best solution for your operational needs. Get inspired by the possibilities of conversational AI.

Date: Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Location: Audimax 2 at the BTU central campus, Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 3, 03046 Cottbus, Germany.

About the lecture series "Open BTU"
From April 19 to June 14, 2023, the public lecture series "Open BTU" offers interesting insights into exciting areas of science. In the summer semester of 2023, in addition to the social focus on structural change in Lusatia, artificial intelligence, European educational cooperation and water in the region will be addressed. With this educational format, which is open to all interested parties, the university's Center for Scientific Continuing Education (ZWW) supports lifelong learning and promotes the transfer of knowledge and ideas in the region by addressing socially relevant issues. The current lecture in the "Open BTU" series is organized by the ZWW together with its own projects EXPAND+ER WB³ and KI@MiNT. The BTU is cooperating with other universities and institutions. After each lecture, there will be an opportunity for questions and exchange with the speakers. Interested parties are cordially invited to attend the wide range of events.
