Start your studies relaxed with the BTU STEM Women's Scholarship

The scholarship offered by the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) specifically for young women interested in science and technology is entering its second round. Applications are still possible until August 31, 2023.

Once again, female high school students and professionally qualified women who choose to study a STEM subject - that is, in the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Technology - on their way to a successful academic career will receive special support. The scholarship holders of the STEM Women's Scholarship receive 250 euros per month for the first two semesters of study, workshops to help them get started, and a network of successful women from science and business.

With the STEM Women's Scholarship, the BTU would like to motivate more female prospective students to pursue a career in the MINT field and inspire them to study. The decisive factor is not the grade point average, but rather personal motivation and passion for the subject in question. After this scholarship was successfully established at the BTU last year under the leadership of the Equal Opportunity Office and the university's STEM ambassadors, a total of 18 Bachelor's study programmes are now available for selection.

The offer is aimed at all committed young women who would like to begin their studies in the winter semester 2023/24 in one of the following Bachelor study programmes: Civil Engineering,  Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering,  Energy Technology and Economics, Environmental and Resource Management,  Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Land Use and Water Management, Materials Chemistry, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Informatics, Medical Technology, Physics, Environmental Engineering,  Economathematics, Business Administration and Engineering.

For example, Nele Hoffmann from the Materials Chemistry study programme points to the best experiences with the STEM Women's Scholarship. "I have become part of a network where we women can combine and strengthen our STEM talents with our social skills," she emphasizes at the end of her second semester. Ronja Tittel from Biotechnology - now deputy chairperson of the student council - explains, "The scholarship has helped me a lot." She is grateful for extensive support and for the fact that she was able to make new friends on this basis and continue to pursue her greatest pastime, equestrian sports, in Senftenberg. Her fellow student Lara Voigt and Marlene Felker from the Medical Technology department were also important contacts for her from the very beginning, should she have any questions or ideas regarding her studies. Maite Arntz, who is studying Land Use and Water Management, is glad that the financial support enabled her to concentrate fully on her studies in the first few months.

The application and submission of documents for the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg MINT Women's Scholarship until August 31, 2023, must be done electronically only, collected in a PDF file,
to the e-mail address
