A strong performance for Team Germany at the FISU World University Games
As host of the major international multi-sport event for students, the Rhine-Ruhr region presented itself with enthusiastic support and a strong sense of unity. Numerous volunteers and many spectators on site showed great commitment.
Members of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg are particularly proud of Master's student Artur Beimler, who competed in the half marathon for Team Germany. He put in an impressive performance in an international field of participants and achieved a fantastic 11th place.
The course was tough and Artur Beimler said: "I'm really happy with the result, even if the course didn't make it easy. The many tight bends and the undulating profile made it difficult to find a steady rhythm. But that's exactly what made the race exciting and challenging!"
Born in Cottbus, Beimler has been studying for a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at BTU since October 2024 and trains atLeichtathletik Club Cottbus. Artur Beimler demonstrated his athletic prowess back in May 2025. He took a remarkable 3rd place in the 1500 metres at the German University Championships organised by the General German University Sports Association . His participation in this competition was made possible with the support of the Central University Sports Centre at BTU.
Congratulations, Artur - a strong performance!
