On 7 May 2026, the Senate of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) reappointed Prof. Dr Gesine Grande for a second term as President. Her re-election signifies continuity at the helm of the university. At the same time, the decision underscores the BTU’s role as a driving force behind the transformation of the Lausitz region.

Jens Riedel of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) has been appointed Professor of Spectrochemical Analysis at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). One of the key areas of focus for the new chair will be battery recycling.
