Insurance cover for students
Who is insured?
All students are legally insured against accidents in accordance with the Social Security Code (SGB VII) if they are enrolled at a state-recognised university, college or university of applied sciences. The insurance cover is free of charge for them. The carrier of the statutory accident insurance is the Unfallkasse Brandenburg.

What to do after an accident?
Please inform the management of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as soon as possible. From there the accident will be reported to the accident insurance company.

If it is necessary to see a doctor, a doctor of transit should be consulted if possible. Please inform the attending physician that this is an accident in connection with your studies at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
When is insurance cover provided?
Insurance protection exists in all situations that fall within the organisational area of responsibility of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, i.e. there must be a direct spatial and temporal connection to the course of study. Thus, insurance coverage is provided primarily for events planned, announced or conducted by the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, such as attending lectures and seminars, visiting the university library, and participating in university sports.
