TOUR 1: EPS Lab (EIZ Electric Power Systems Laboratory)
High-voltage network equipment under harsh climatic conditions
In the high-voltage research laboratory (1.6 MV DC, 1 MV AC, 1.8 MV lightning) with a new climatic chamber (8m x 5m x 8m, temperature -60°C to +80°C, humidity 10% to 95%), you will witness experiments involving flashover and breakdown on electrical power engineering equipment.

Microgrid/Energy Island A microgrid comprising photovoltaics, a battery, a combined heat and power (CHP) unit, power-to-heat, an absorption chiller and a fleet of charging points will be presented to investigate the integration of the electricity, heating, cooling and gas sectors.

TOUR 2: EECON Lab (EIZ Energy Economics Lab)
Immersive research into decision-making behaviour and energy
In the state-of-the-art and innovative virtual reality laboratory, featuring a 5-sided LED CAVE (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment), experimental economic studies on individual perception and societal acceptance of energy and infrastructure measures are made possible. Planned measures, such as wind energy or photovoltaic installations, can be experienced in a realistic setting.

The event is organised in collaboration with dena – German Energy Agency.
