The future of space travel: ESA astronaut Reinhold Ewald opens new lecture series

The milestones of space travel kick off a new public lecture series at BTU. On Wednesday, 15 October 2025, the Open BTU will kick off with a special highlight: ESA astronaut Prof. Dr Reinhold Ewald and Stefan Richter, Head of the DLR_School_Lab, will jointly open the new topic block "Aerospace - Lusatian research above the clouds".

Focus on artificial intelligence: Media Law Days 2025 in Cottbus

60 experts will discuss the opportunities and challenges of digital technologies in the justice system at BTU on Thursday and Friday, 9 and 10 October 2025. In particular, the focus will be on the legal, ethical and practical issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in court proceedings.

Counter-forensics: global historical investigation of state crimes

The public lecture series "Forensic Sciences: On the trail of the crime" at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will continue on Friday, 10 October 2025 at 5:30 pm. The officer will be Robert Trafford from the Department of Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London.

The DAAD Prize 2025 goes to Master's graduate Fatemehsadat Toghraie

Fatemehsadat Toghraie comes from Iran and has been studying for a Master's degree in Biotechnology at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) since 2021. On 6 October 2025, she was awarded the university's DAAD Prize, endowed with 1,000 euros, as part of the celebrations to mark the start of the academic year.

The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg matriculation ceremony in the Cottbus Stadthalle on Monday 6 October marked the festive start of the 2025/2026 academic year. The new students were welcomed by BTU President Gesine Grande, the mayors of the university towns of Cottbus and Senftenberg and representatives of the student body.

International conference on preservation and design

The relationship between Architectural Conservation and Architecture is the topic of an international annual conference in Cottbus. From Thursday, 2 to Sunday, 5 October 2025, 100 experts from 12 countries will meet at the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art - Diesel Power Plant. The conference is being organised by the BTU Chair of Architectural Conservation.
