Participation in Lab Experiments

At the Energy Economics Lab (EECON Lab), we investigate how humans make decisions related to energy using controlled lab experiments. Our research greatly benefits from broad societal participation. That is why we invite everybody to support our research. The only prerequisites to participate in our lab experiments are as follows:

  • To confidently understand German or English
  • To be of legal age
  • To have basic computer skills

No expert knowledge is required to participate in our lab experiments. If we have sparked your interest, you can register in our database via this link. Then, you will receive invitations to economic experiments. Your information will be saved in our database and will only be used to inform you about upcoming experiments. You will receive an invitation via email as soon as we conduct a behavioural economic experiment.

The invitations will inform you about the time, location, and duration of the experiments. If you choose to participate in an experiment, prior to its start, you will be briefed on the experiment’s process and the decisions you will make. Typically, these decisions will be made on the computer. We are extremely committed to ensuring that all steps of the experiments being intuitive and understandable without expert knowledge.

Every participant sits in an assigned cubicle, making decisions unobserved by other participants. After the experiment’s completion, you will receive financial compensation. This compensation consists of two parts. Firstly, you will receive a fixed payout of 8.00 euros for participating in the experiment. Additionally, you will receive a payout depending on your decisions and partially on the decisions of other participants. Your participation in our experiments not only supports our research but also benefits your wallet.

We would be pleased to welcome you to one of our experiments. If you have any questions, please contact us via email at  eeconlab(at)b-tu.de or via telephone at +49 355 69 2138.
