Berlin has one of the most important collections of antiquities and the world's most important museum of ancient architecture. Nearly two million visitors a year are fascinated by the Pergamon Altar or drawn by the "Praying Boy" through the Rotunda into the Altes Museum am Lustgarten. This book serves as a guide through the collection on Greek, Cypriot, Etruscan and Roman archaeology, whose presentation in the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum and the Pergamon Museum was completely redesigned from 2009 to 2011. Numerous works of art, some of which had not been on view for decades, were restored and placed in new contexts in terms of content.

For this 4th edition of the Catalogue Handbook of the Berlin Collection of Classical Antiquities, the selection of objects was adapted to the new arrangement and a large number of the objects were newly photographed. The foreword by Andreas Scholl illuminates the present and near future of the Collection of Classical Antiquities against the background of its 350-year history. Numerous new texts also bring lesser-known masterpieces into focus.
