Children's university on the biochemistry of cartilage and bone

The question of why we shrink in old age will be answered by Dr. Anne-Helen Lutter when she looks at the biochemistry of cartilage and bone in the current online lecture of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Children's University on Thursday and Saturday, January 13 and 15, 2022.

The interplay between cartilage and bone forms the basis for the stability and movement of our body. Their intimate relationship is evident in the joints, where a division of labor is important: Who absorbs the force that acts on the knee when playing soccer? Our bones are a dynamic tissue that is constantly being built up and broken down, cartilage is a durable tissue, and we can strengthen both through healthy eating and exercise. What keeps us fit for exercise?

Dr. Anne-Helen Lutter is Faculty Officer for Research Affairs in the Faculty of Health Sciences Brandenburg - a joint faculty of the University of Potsdam, the Brandenburg Medical School and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
