ECOPREC – water-impermeable pavement

The ECOPREC-Project is supported by the European Commission. The project partners include five concern producer of concrete block and two Laboratories. The ECOPREC-System is a water-impermeable pavement. It was developed to make the installation of pavements possible, at those places where a leakage of fluids into the subsurface is undesirable... This system is composed of paving stones, joint mudding and underlay, like traditional pavement. The specific characteristic of the ECOPREC-System is its water impermeability, obtainable by the special composition of the joint mudding and the underlay.

The stability and permeability of the different materials (joint fill and bedding) have been tested in the laboratory of the chair “soil mechanics and foundation engineering / geotechnical engineering” and in the laboratory of a Danish project partner. On the one hand, the material should be impermeable and on the other handy it should withstand the forces due to traffic loads. The materials that passed the tests and that proved to be suitable were installed in test areas. On the basis of the deformation and the permeability measurements, the suitability of ECOPREC system has been demonstrated.Project partners:
