EUNICE Language Network Coordinator (m/f/d)

The Language Center offers a broad language-learning portfolio. We have been constantly working on the development of a language concept in support of the internationalization program of our university and the European University Alliance EUNICE. Our goal is to strengthen German and English as languages for academic and professional purposes as well as to offer courses in other languages in order to promote multilingualism, transculturality and international exchange among students and staff.

These are your responsibilities

  • Organization, coordination and specialist management of project activities establishing a common infrastructure and language-learning opportunities in the EUNICE network
    • Mapping of language-learning opportunities at all ten EUNICE partner universities
    • Conception, implementation and evaluation of a science-based needs analysis for the development of a shared language-learning and teaching network
    • Development and implementation of a quality framework and management for language learning and teaching as well as the shared use of resources between universities (e.g.  mutual course enrolment, shared online courses, mobility exchanges, summer schools, networking and further professional training programs for language teachers)
    • Development and implementation of a communication strategy to promote multilingualism, mobility and transculturality, and public relations activities
    • Coordination, moderation and documentation of the regular meetings between the heads of the language centres, language teachers in various fields, etc.; participation in EUNICE coordination meetings
    • Preparation of additional science-based projects and funding proposals
    • Preparation and provision of decision papers, in particular reports, analyses, plans and forecasts for target-oriented management of the project as well as other administrative tasks associated with the project
       
  • Organization and delivery of language courses for EUNICE students and staff and/or professional development training for teaching staff, especially in the field of foreign language teaching (up to 8 SWS)

Your Skills

You have successfully completed an university degree in the terms of the TV-L pay scale (e.g. accredited Master's degree) in an field relevant to the position (linguistic and cultural studies, international relations, foreign language didactics, German as a Foreign Language or a related field).

You have the following expertise and/or experience:

  • English at least CEFR C2 level; knowledge of at least two other national languages in the EUNICE network to at least CEFR C1 level, preferably including German
  • Sound knowledge of the didactics and methodology of foreign language teaching according to current scientific findings, including eLearning and performance measurement
  • Experience in task-based teaching of foreign languages in higher education     
  • Experience in course design, curriculum development and contemporary teaching scenarios (e-learning, blended learning)
  • Experience in international cooperation in higher education
  • Experience in the conception and implementation of international summer schools
  • Experience in project coordination, networking and event organization
  • Experience with university administration processes
  • Experience in fund raising and management 
  • Mastery of modern communication, teaching and learning media

You are personally familiar with working in a science-based environment and with thinking strategically. You show initiative, are flexible and possess strong collaborative and communication skills. You can draw on experience in project management and can approach the tasks described above with organizational, problem-solving and persuasive skills. Your profile demonstrates transcultural competence, diplomatic tact, ability to deal with complexity and excellent observation skills.
