Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Minister at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research visits the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg
Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Minister at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, visited the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg on her summer tour this year.
She was also able to gain an impression of the progress being made at the Cottbus Energy Innovation Center (EIZ). Her conclusion: "During my visit to the BTU in Cottbus today, I was able to see for myself the great momentum that research and innovation can bring to structural change in Lusatia."
After a brief overview of the EIZ by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johannes Schiffer, two laboratories had the opportunity to present their innovative research work.
In the EECON | Energy Economics Lab, Prof. Dr. Felix Muesgens and Dr. Niklas Ziemann used VR glasses to give the Federal Minister an insight into acceptance research into the expansion of renewable energy infrastructures. Scenarios for the expansion of wind and solar power plants can be simulated in this mobile VR laboratory.
In the ESC | Energy Storage and Conversion Lab, the Minister was shown the latest research results on sector-coupled energy systems - consisting of heat, electricity, storage and mobility - in a CO₂-neutral cycle approach based on green hydrogen. Prof. Dr. Lars Röntzsch and Shiva Kumar Sampangi focused in particular on the work at the Hydrogen Research Center.
The iCampus Cottbus, Next Generation Drugs and Thiem-Research GmbH also offered great insights into their work.
