My name is Zein. I’m a junior researcher at the Chair of IT-Security at BTU. I obtained a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Informatics Engineering from Damascus University and a Master’s degree in Applied Computer Science from Ruhr University Bochum.
My research interests span the domain of machine learning models and their applications across various fields, including Cybersecurity, healthcare, finance, and more. Currently, I am focused on developing anomaly detection systems using diverse ML models to enhance the security of Industrial Control Systems (ICS).
I am currently involved in the WAIKIKI project, which aims to develop an AI-based system for detecting anomalies in critical infrastructures, specifically within energy systems. Due to the importance of these infrastructures, my goal is to implement appropriate explanation methods to interpret the decisions made by AI-based anomaly detection systems. This approach helps to build trust between the system and its users.
