Julia Binder (V-Prof. Dr. phil.) is an acting professor for Urban Studies and Urban Design and is leading the third-party funded project "Digital Pioneers in rural regional development" (04/2020-03/2023),  supported by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). She completed her PhD in Urban and Regional Sociology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, was a post-graduate researcher of the Cities Group at King's College, London, and is concerned with questions regarding regional development in peripheral regions.
