Invitation to the symposium "#GesellschaftBilden im Digitalzeitalter" at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences

With funding from the Innovation Fundof the Potsdam University of Applied Scienceswasin the year 2023the cross-institutional digitalisation research networketzwerk Nordost was founded in 2023 to bring together interested practitioners and researchers from Social Work and related professions and disciplines.to the"Symposium: #SocietyBuildingin the digital age" on 11 October 2024invitesinvites.

In recent years, the influences and consequences of digital-technological transformations have led to a diverse but heterogeneous discourse in the science and profession of Social Work. Universities and practitioners have been concerned with different aspects of technologisation, digitalisation and mediatisation, yet initiatives for cross-institutional cooperation and participation in the discourse have been lacking.

Against this backdrop, representatives of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Centre for Constructive Education Sciences e. V. The aim of the network is to pool resources to promote and focus research into and communication of the phenomena of technology, digitalisation and mediatisation in Social Work.

After a successful project year, the Digitalisation Research Network North East invites all interested parties from Social Work and all related disciplines and professions to a joint symposium in October 2024. The "Symposium: #GesellschaftBilden im Digitalzeitalter" will take place on Friday, 11.10.2024, from 10:00 - 15:00 at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences with a varied programme of lectures as well as exchange and workshop formats.

In addition to insights into the work of the Digitalisation Research Network North East, two specialist lectures will be offered: Prof. Dr. Valentin Dander, project manager in the Competence Network against Hate on the Net, will give a perspective on the topics of education and power in the digital society, while Prof. Dr. Nadja Wolf from Fresenius University of Applied Sciences will talk about the mission of social work in social media. This will be followed by three parallel workshops. Prof. Dr Cordula Endter from the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin invites interested practitioners and academics to take a look at ways to prevent cybergrooming and sexual harassment online. Dr Bernhard Kohl from the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences will encourage an exchange on digital worlds in youth welfare offices, while social pedagogue and freelance media educator Kristin Ehlert will focus on media literacy as the key to democratic competence in her workshop.
