Internships in Europe with Erasmus+

Information on funding

Please note that Erasmus+ funding is only a subsidy towards the actual cost of living and it is therefore advisable to check other available subsidy options.(BAföG abroad, own savings, etc.).

The funding rates are divided into country groups according to the average cost of living at each destination. 

Attention! 

Internships in Project 2025 can only be funded for a maximum period of 4 months (120 days).

Project 2024 and 2025

Country group 1: EUR 750.00 per month

Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden.

Partner countries from regions 13 (Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City State) and 14 (Faroe Islands, Switzerland, United Kingdom).

Country groups 2 and 3: EUR 690.00 per month

Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary.

Funding rates for Short-Term Blended Mobility (5-30 days abroad + mandatory virtual component)

Internship day 01-14 79 EUR / day

Internship day 15-30 56 EUR / day

Additional funding opportunities in the Erasmus programme

Social Top-Ups

Participants who belong to the groups listed below can apply for an additional monthly grant of EUR 250 on top of the regular Erasmus grant. This option is available to the groups of people listed below, whereby only one type of top-up can be claimed per person.

Social Top-Ups available for certain groups:

  • Students with paid employment: Employment must have been held continuously for at least six months prior to the start of the internship. The average monthly income must be above EUR 450 and below EUR 850. During the internship, the student job may not be continued. The job must be paused during the internship.
  • First-time graduates (students from a non-academic family): Both parents or carers do not have a degree from a university or university of applied sciences.
  • Students with child/children
  • Students with a chronic illness/disability: Degree of disability (GdB) of 20 or more.

Green Travel Travel by bus, train, bike or carpooling

  • Possibility to apply for additional travel days (of up to 6 days) if environmentally friendly means of transport are used for > 50% of the outward and return journey.

The maximum duration of funding is 3 months. Funding will likely only be available starting in January 2026.

Unfortunately, funding for non-EU internships is not currently available, but there is the possibility of renewed funding at a later date.
