Subject Specific Requirements

Subject Specific Requirements

  • A general requirement for admission to the international English speaking master's programme in Micro- and Nanoelectronics at BTU is a first qualifying degree (at least bachelor's degree) or a qualification equivalent degree in a subject-related degree programme.
  • A degree is sufficiently close in content if a) the course content in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics and Experimental Physics is comparable in scope to the Bachelor's degree programme in Physics at BTU; or b) the course content in Physics, Mathematics, Electronics and Systems and Field Theory is comparable to the Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Information Technology or Electronics at BTU or have a comparable scope.
  • Pay especial attention to the mathematics, physics and fundamentals in electrical communication/engineering, including EM Waves, Semi-conductor, Field Theory, and Antenna. For example, it is highly unlikely that applicants that have not taken “Field Theory” or any course related to "Semi-conductor" or equivalent will be admitted. The same is true for a course in each of mathematics, physics, and signals and systems theory.
  • The Examination Board of Micro- and Nanoelectronics at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will decide whether an applicant’s degree is sufficient or not. If the board is unsure about the equivalence, they may decide that a student must complete additional modules before joining for the master's programme.
  • Applicants need a certificate of proficiency in English as described in this handout. Only valid certificates are recognized, »medium of instruction certificates« are not accepted.
  • For applicants with a German university entrance qualification, the Abitur certificate can serve as sufficient proof for the language proficiency.
