KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL - this is the guiding principle of the guest student program at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). The opening event for the summer semester 2023 will take place on Tuesday, April 4, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the self-help bicycle workshop of the students of the module BTU4Future.

Experienced participants as well as newcomers are invited to the Zentralcampus Cottbus. In the courtyard of Building 10, located at Erich-Weinert-Strasse 1, they will receive information about the current program. The team of the Center for Scientific Continuing Education will answer all questions about the new and proven contents while working and polishing up. These are published including the registration options under https://www.b-tu.de/weiterbildung/offene-hochschule/wissen-fuer-alle.

The  guest student program Open University - KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL with the SeniorAcademy as well as the events of the public lecture series Open BTUis an integral part of the intergenerational campus of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

The managing director of the Center for Continuing Academic Education, Heike Bartholomäus, emphasizes: "It makes us proud that our guest students like to come back. Many have been visiting us for many years. Some have just discovered us and appreciate that the program can be tailored individually. We again have our familiar formats on offer, but also completely new and perhaps even somewhat unusual courses: for example, in April we are looking forward to "Visiting a VR Cave". That's a room for projecting the illusion world in virtual reality. In the upcycling workshop, we learn to give old materials a new purpose. In June, in the Graffity Workshop, Cottbus-based artist Martin Jainz tackles an art form that is perceived very differently by the public."

With a professionally broad spectrum and different teaching and learning formats from the educational program "Knowledge for All," participants can shape their personal learning paths according to their inclinations. Cultural partnerships with important institutions in the region and exciting excursions as well as the online lecture series of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Wissenschaftliche Weiterbildung für Ältere (Federal Association for Scientific Continuing Education for Older Persons) extend the range of courses on offer. In the open courses from the regular program, guest students can attend lectures together with BTU students out of professional or personal interest.

Selected program content:

Among other things, the program includes courses designed to make it easier for new students or those returning to learning - from a writing workshop with author Franziska Steinhauer to a library rally for literature searches to digital participation in video conferencing systems. Other seminars, courses and workshops are devoted to literature and theater or address questions such as "Is our city of Cottbus sufficiently senior- and family-friendly?" This semester, the SeniorenAkademie lecture series offers 14 lectures that can be experienced at the Senftenberg campus and online. The "Knowledge for All" program makes it possible to experience virtual realities that exist only in the digital world in the computer. Physical and mental fitness in old age and the use of smartphones and tablets are also addressed. An extensive range of excursions, language courses, the diverse offerings of the university library at three BTU locations in Cottbus and Senftenberg, as well as numerous courses from the university's extensive sports program ensure attractiveness.

The offers of the guest student program Open University - KNOWLEDGE FOR ALL under the auspices of the Center for Academic Continuing Education present the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as a reliable educational partner for lifelong learning. Thus, the guest auditor studies enable all people interested in education to further their education in individual fields of knowledge of the university. Participants study without exams or pressure to perform. There are no age restrictions or admission requirements. Apart from the knowledge transfer it is an important request to create possibilities for social exchange and to open areas for ideas.
