Internship

Tim Lehmann (2022)

Reflecting on my internship at AIDrom now after one year, it was a very educational time. It was more than just an internship. I got to do my internship in Romania, in a different country, with a different culture and language. This made my internship not always easy, but all the more instructive. I still often think back to my English language course for refugee children. This was my first offering that I designed on my own and it always presented me with challenges. It wasn't the kids. They were great. It was more myself who was suddenly allowed to design an offer on my own. I learned a lot and I can't believe that my internship is over for a year now. I miss the time.

Manuel Roche (2021)

"I did my internship at Save the Children in Iasi in an after-school program. It went from September 2020 to February 2021. I enjoyed dealing with the children and noticing the cultural differences. I was able to grow from these challenges and practically apply what I had previously learned in theory. The supervision of the internship was very good and I was even visited once by the practice supervisor. My work was very much appreciated by the staff and I was able to build a good relationship with some of the children."

Lena Rothe (2019)

I chose the German-Romanian program because it offers the great opportunity to spend an academic year abroad. Currently, I am in my 3rd semester and I am doing my internship in a day center for Roma children in a small village near Sibiu (Hermannstadt). I really enjoy working with the children and it is exciting to learn about the differences and similarities of social work in Germany and Romania.

Rahel Stengele (2019)

"My internship placement is at the day center for children of the Prison Fellowship Romania organization in Cluj. A project that I did there with the older children had the goal of making the children more empathetic by looking their fellow human beings in the eye and thus being more attentive to the feelings of others. The implementation of this project goal was very creative and the children thus learned about different drawing and painting techniques, which they could then apply themselves to paint eyes in different styles.

Anne Günther (2019)

"I am currently doing my internship semester in a facility for homeless people in Bucharest. [...] in the internship they show me exactly what you have to do as a social worker* in the homeless aid and give me space to also try myself. Here I learn to apply my theoretical knowledge from my studies in practice. "Carrying out this project was very challenging, but also instructive and not without success."
