New German modules for international students contribute to successful studies and provide language support for entering the job market

The new demand-oriented modules "Studierstrategien und Fachdeutsch” for the clusters Sustainability, Architecture & Urban Planning, Engineering and Business support international students.

Following a survey of priority language situations in specialised studies, action- and competence-oriented, digital learning materials for teaching (learning) strategies in the context of technical language acquisition were developed in cooperation with the Deutsch-Uni Online. International students learn how to better overcome language barriers in their specialised studies. This contributes to their academic success.

The need for vocational German language training is addressed by an initial module, for which interviews were conducted with representatives of Deutsche Bahn, ArcelorMittal and DLR, among others, as well as international professionals to determine communication situations in everyday working life. The module "German as a Foreign Language for Career Entry" will be piloted for the first time in summer semester 2024 and supports international students in their language preparation for their start in the (regional) job market.

All modules are listed in the FÜS catalogue and were developed as part of the Profis D - Fach.Deutsch.Digital für Studium und Beruf project funded by the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre from 2021 to 2024 in close cooperation with the network partner Deutsch-Uni Online der g.a.s.t. e.V.
