DAAD Alumni Project in Africa

The BTU is on its way to the exciting DAAD Alumni Project in Africa.

Since 2012, the Chair of Public Law, in particular Environmental and Planning Law (with the Department of Civil Law) at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, led by Prof. Dr. iur Eike Albrecht, has been at the forefront of organizing impactful international DAAD alumni projects both in Germany and abroad.

In 2024, Prof. Dr. iur Eike Albrecht, along with Niyanta Shetye, spearheaded the "Making Alumni Networks Digital - E-Learning Africa (MANDELA)" project. The project included an in-person phase held in Buea, Cameroon in collaboration with University of Buea, from May 21st to May 28th, 2024. This phase provided hands-on training in e-learning and digitalisation for environmental education, along with brainstorming workshops and excursions to Mount Cameroon. The event hosted 22 German African Alumni, who are environmental educators actively working across Africa. Additionally, the alumni group participated in the e-Learning Africa conference in Kigali, Rwanda, engaging in discussions on the dynamic theme: "Education Fuels Innovation, Investment Amplifies Skills: Africa's Vibrant Leap Forward."

Looking ahead, BTU and its partners plan to continue organizing more DAAD alumni projects, with updates and details available on the chair's website.
