DEMENSCH travelling exhibition: ‘Everyday situations experienced by people with dementia’

As part of the World Alzheimer’s Day expert forum on 21 September 2026, the DEMENSCH travelling exhibition ‘Everyday situations experienced by people with dementia’ will open at the Senftenberg site. It features 12 drawings by the cartoonist Peter Gaymann.

This special exhibition by the Alzheimer Society of Brandenburg e.V. – Dementia Self-Help – takes a different approach to the subject of dementia – namely, with humour. In his prints, Peter Gaymann depicts the everyday lives of people with dementia, and his cartoons incisively highlight the core challenges that they and their families face on a daily basis. The drawings vividly illustrate the effort it takes to find one’s way in a life with dementia and to cope with it successfully.
A relaxed approach is possible if you don’t correct every supposed mistake or insist on being right. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if someone looks for their glasses in the fridge instead of the dishwasher.
Sharing a smile, a chuckle or even a laugh is definitely allowed!
