Barış Altan

Born in 1975, M.Sc. Studied architecture at Istanbul Technical University and attained his M.Sc. at the same university on restoration. 1999–2003 part of the editorial team of the publications titled Architecture in Turkey 2000 and Architecture in Turkey 2004. 1998–2000 work at History Foundation on various cultural heritage projects. In 2000 and 2002 work as researcher and assistant curator for two exhibitions at the Imperial Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Centre. 2008–2010 work as the general director at Cultural Awareness Foundation. In 2010, became the founding secretary general of Europa Nostra Turkey after undertaking activity coordinator position for the Europa Nostra annual congress held in Istanbul in June 2010. After executing cultural heritage surveying projects from 2010 to 2013, acted as the project coordinator of the project titled LIMEN: Cultural Ports from Aegean to the Black Sea from October 2013 to December 2015. In 2016 became the administrative coordinator of Koç University – Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for Late Antique and Byzantine Studies.

Research Focus: Cultural heritage policies, restoration history and practices.
