The HBSC study ("Health Behavior in School-aged Children") is an international cooperative research project that has been supported by the World Health Organization(WHO) for over 35 years. The aim of the study is to describe and analyze the subjective health and health behavior of children and adolescents between the ages of 11 and 15. It was jointly developed in 1982 by scientists from England, Finland and Norway and has been carried out every four years since then. Originally started with four countries, 49 countries and regions with more than 200,000 children and adolescents now take part in the study. It is now the world's largest study on child and adolescent health and one of the most important data bases for international comparative health reporting for the WHO.
