Cross-institute digitization scout of Faculty 4 with special consideration of AR, VR and AI technologies

Runtime

The technological change brought about by the digital transformation has been shaping social and individual life for decades. This situation is also particularly significant for the disciplines and fields of study in Faculty 4:

(1) Digital transformations manifest themselves in the areas of social affairs, health and (cultural) education, having an impact there and transforming them. This requires us as teachers, learners and researchers to continuously engage with these developments on the one hand and to engage in our own (further) education processes on the other.

(2) With our way of dealing with (new) technologies in research and teaching, we shape forms and conceivable possibilities of use and, above all, also deal with the ethical and social dimensions of their use and handling - but also possible limitations.

Both aspects are relevant for all disciplines represented at Faculty 4, but cannot be dealt with in isolation. This requires a continuous exchange with regard to questions of digitalization and our disciplines, chairs and research interests. On the one hand, this requires knowledge about issues of digitalization and digitality, individual technologies and their possible applications and, on the other hand, knowledge about which topics are currently in focus in the institutes of our faculty and to what extent these can be thought together or merged with each other and with regard to certain technologies. In sum, the social significance of digitalization can also be captured from and for the areas of life. Future developments could thus be shaped for society from the university level.

This is where our project idea comes in: We will establish a cross-institutional digitalization scout with a special focus on AR, VR and AI technologies and their networking with people. with people.

A digitalization scout will work proactively and across all institutions:

  • Training in the broadest sense on topics related to digitalization,
  • trying out different technologies and testing their use in a future field of activity,
  • Discussion formats for exchange and networking within Faculty 4 with regard to common issues from the perspective of digitalization and certain technologies,
  • Disclosure and linking of resources in the sense of joint research geared towards the interdisciplinary object of action
  • Getting to know and networking with colleagues from other faculties to jointly work on issues.
  • Contact person for specific questions - concerning technologies and digitalization - of the people working at the institutes of Faculty 4
