Workshop for counselors - initial counseling for those affected by SHDV

In cases of sexualized discrimination, harassment and violence (SHDV), bullying or stalking, initial counseling is an important element for those affected in order to classify and deal with what they have experienced. Counselors play a very important role in this process, which will be examined and trained from different angles in this workshop.

Especially in cases of discrimination, e.g. sexualized discrimination and violence (SBDG), mobbing or stalking, initial counseling is an important element for those affected to classify and deal with what they have experienced. Accordingly, counselors have a very important role, which will be examined from different angles in this workshop. Not only the often high expectations (e.g. legal handling and consequences of discrimination), which are directed at counselors, will be reflected, but also the own motivation and attitude as a counselor. In addition, the workshop will introduce techniques for conducting conversations, e.g. questioning and listening techniques, as indispensable components in the counseling interview, and practice them using practical examples. We will also take a look at the emotional aftercare of counselors, so that counseling sessions remain safe - for those seeking advice as well as those providing it.

The event is part of the awareness-raising measures of the Equal Opportunities Office of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg for dealing with sexualized harassment, discrimination and violence at universities.
