Ideas turn into projects – and successes!
EcoNET is the BTU’s student sustainability group. It brings together students who want to develop their own ideas for a more sustainable university and work together to implement specific projects on campus. The focus is on topics such as biodiversity, sustainable campus design, student environmental projects and events. New ideas and committed students are always very welcome.
In 2026, EcoNET further developed the project idea “GUMNO – The Campus Sponge Community Garden: Bridging Research and Student Action for Climate Resilience” and submitted it to the student competition organised by the German Initiative for Network Information (DINI e. V.).
This success demonstrates the potential that students’ ideas can realise when commitment, professional exchange and collaborative project development come together.

Student projects promoting sustainable development
Student sustainability projects at BTU can receive support in developing ideas, planning concrete measures and identifying suitable opportunities for implementation and funding. Depending on the project, cooperation with university partners and external organisations may also be possible.
