German-Romanian double degree programme (B.A.)

1. study contents

Students of the German-Romanian double degree program in Social Work take the modules of the general Social Work program such as Fundamentals of Social Work, Introduction to Sociology for Social Work, Psychological Fundamentals of Social Work and Introduction to the Legal Foundations of Social Work. In addition, the students deal with the special topics of the German-Romanian course of studies such as

  • concepts of intercultural social work
  • culturally and migration sensitive work
  • comparative social work in binational projects
  • country-specific issues
  • globalization/ Europeanization

2. course of studies

The standard period of study is six semesters in which 180 credit points are acquired. The binational study program takes place in a group of up to ten students who receive personal supervision. The programme focuses on a one-year stay abroad in Romania during the third and fourth semester.

  • binational supervision of the bachelor thesis

3. degree

After successful completion the title "Bachelor of Arts Social Work" is awarded by the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as well as the Romanian "licenta asistenta sociala (B.A.)" by the partner university Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara.

4. possible fields of work

The double degree qualifies students for employment in all fields of social work in Germany and Romania. In particular, the program qualifies students for work in migration contexts, such as in migration and refugee work, as well as for work in cross-border projects.
