Warning of fraudulent activities by International Fairs Directory / MULPOR Company S.A. / EXPO GUIDE, S.C. etc.

Currently (as in previous years), the company MULPOR Company S.A. from Montevideo (Uruguay) is sending out forms with reference to the "campus-X-change" for the entry of company data in a business directory. This company apparently operates a business directory under the name International Fairs Directory and sends out forms to companies to enter their company data in this business directory. The companies are asked to confirm or correct pre-filled data by ticking a box. At the end of the form, they are informed that signing the form will result in a three-year contract with annual costs of EUR 1 ,212.00 at
.

Please do not fill out anything or ever respond to such letters or other attempts to contact you.

Unfortunately, to the best of our knowledge, many other trade fair organisers and exhibiting companies throughout Germany are equally affected by such activities.

The companies/senders known to us with regard to this procedure are

  • MULPOR Company S.A.
  • International Fairs Directory
  • EXPO GUIDE, S.C.

Examples of such letters

This website of AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry) publishes examples of cover letters that have been adapted in the meantime.

If you have responded using the sample response text (see link and notes further down on our website), you can see a response letter from MULPOR Company S.A. at
.

We, as organisers of campus-X-change, expressly point out that the companies MULPOR Company S.A. / International Fairs Directory / EXPO GUIDE, S.C. etc. have no business relationship with us and that the above-mentioned directory is not the official exhibitor directory of
campus-X-change
. Furthermore, we hereby expressly distance ourselves from any activities of these companies. BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has never and will never enter into contractual relationships with such companies.

If you have already signed the order letter and thus concluded a contract, we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice.

On the website of AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry) you will find further information, a sample response text and a contact for legal advice.

⇒ However, please note the following:

MULPOR Company S.A. has adapted its letters to the legal assessments of the courts. These current letters state, among other things, that there is no connection to the trade fair organiser. In addition, reference is now made at the end of the order form to the advertising placement and the associated costs, so that it is no longer possible to assume fraudulent misrepresentation or deception. As only tradespeople or companies are contacted in this way, it is also assumed that traders, in accordance with their duty of care, look closely at such letters before placing orders subject to a charge.

If you have responded to such a letter and subsequently received an invoice, the sample reply letter on the AUMA website is therefore obviously only partially applicable. Do not pay the invoice without first checking the factual and legal situation.

We hereby expressly declare once again that all communication regarding contract initiation and contract fulfilment is carried out exclusively by the campus-X-change team. The contracting parties are exclusively the issuing company and
BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The data you provide will not be passed on to third parties.

Should you have any doubts about the origin and/or intentions of the sender upon receipt of a letter, we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
