Warning against fraudulent activities durch International Fairs Directory / MULPOR Company S.A. / EXPO GUIDE, S.C. etc.

Currently (as in previous years), the company MULPOR Company S.A. from Montevideo (Uruguay) is sending out forms for entering company data in a business directory with reference to the "campus-X-change". Under the name International Fairs Directory, this company apparently operates a business directory and sends out forms to companies for entering their company data in this business directory. The companies are asked to confirm or correct pre-filled data by means of a check mark. At the end of the form, they are informed that signing the form will result in a three-year contract with annual costs of 1,212.00 EUR.

Please do not fill out anything or respond to such letters or other attempts to contactyou.

Unfortunately, to our knowledge, many other trade fair organizers as well as exhibiting companies are equally affected by such activities throughout Germany.

The companies/senders known to us with regard to this procedure are:

  • MULPOR Company S.A.
  • International Fairs Directory
  • EXPO GUIDE, S.C.

Examples of such cover letters

On this website of AUMA (Ausstellungs- und Messe-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V.) examples of the meanwhile adapted cover letters are published.

If you have responded using the sample response text (see link and notes further down on our website), you can see a response letter from MULPOR Company S.A. here.

We, as organizers of the campus-X-change, expressly point out that the companies MULPOR Company S.A. / International Fairs Directory / EXPO GUIDE, S.C. etc. have no business relations with us and that the above-mentioned directory is not the official exhibitor directory of the campus-X-change. Furthermore, we hereby expressly distance ourselves from any activities of these companies. The BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg has never had and will never have contractual relationships with such companies.

If you have already signed the order letter and thus concluded a contract, we strongly recommend that you seek legal advice.

On the website of AUMA (Ausstellungs- und Messe-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V.), you will find further information, a sample response text, and a contact for legal advice.

⇒ However, please note the following in this regard:

MULPOR Company S.A. has adapted its cover letters to the legal assessments of the courts. In these current cover letters, it is stated, among other things, that there is no connection with the trade fair organizer. Also, at the end of the order form, reference is now made to the advertising and the associated costs, so that apparently no fraudulent misrepresentation or deception can be assumed. Since only traders or companies are written to in this form, it is also assumed that traders, in accordance with their duty of care, take a close look at such letters before placing orders for which a charge is made.

If you have responded to such a letter and subsequently received an invoice, the sample response letter on AUMA's website is therefore obviously only applicable to a limited extent. Do not pay the invoice without first checking the factual and legal situation.

We hereby expressly declare once again that any communication regarding contract initiation and contract execution will be handled exclusively by the campus-X-change team. The contracting parties are exclusively the issuing company and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. No data transmitted by you will be passed on to third parties.

Should you have any doubts about the origin and/or intentions of the sender upon receipt of a letter, We will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
