Antennas and Waveguides

Our research concentrates on the following:
- Novel antenna configurations with significantly improved radiation characteristics, particularly 3D and hybrid antennas, e.g. Ndip antennas
- Millimeter-wave and terahertz antennas to be integrated in package (Antenna-in-Package, AiP) and on chip (Antenna-on-Chip, AoC), e.g. for 6G, terahertz radar sensing, joint communication and radar sensing (JCAS)
- Phased arrays, MIMO arrays and reflectarrays
- Electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) metamaterials and metamaterial-based antennas
- Waveguides, waveguide transitions and waveguide antennas (e.g. substrate integrated waveguide, SIW antennas)
- Electromagnetic interaction between integrated antennas and their surroundings, as well as methods for shielding/isolation
- Methods for efficient electromagnetic modeling, characterization and optimization of antennas, waveguides and EBG metamaterials up to terahertz frequencies, taking into account the impact of manufacturing technologies and processes
