Shed
In the “Shed” seminar, students developed a parametric tool shed for GUMNO, the BTU’s student-run community garden. The seminar focused on 3D clay printing, material testing, and the development of custom clay bricks. Through a series of challenges, the students investigated overhangs, structural stability, and vaulted structures, complemented by load tests. The findings were then applied to the design of a specific building using parametric design methods and Grasshopper.
The seminar thus progressed from material research and prototype development to the architectural design of a structure adjacent to the existing earthen building. Construction is planned as part of a follow-up seminar.
