During your studies at our chair, various organizational and academic questions may arise – for example, regarding exam registration, internships, thesis procedures, or the use of digital platforms.
To support you in navigating these topics, we have compiled the most frequently asked questions on this page. The information provided is intended to help you understand relevant processes, meet deadlines, and avoid common misunderstandings.
Master’s Thesis

Please first review the available topics on the website. If you cannot find a suitable one, write a short essay in which you clearly describe your proposed topic. Please also explain why your topic meets the requirements for a bachelor’s/master’s thesis and how it fits into the research areas of the chair. Include relevant and recent research papers on the topic.
The essay should not exceed two pages.
You must have successfully completed at least two of the following three modules in the subject area:
- 11899 | Cyber Security Application Areas
- 11897 | Security of Resource-constrained Systems
- 13800 | Engineering of Trustworthy Systems
All other requirements depend on the topic you choose.
If you would like to write a thesis in the field of hardware security, you must have successfully completed all modules taught by Prof. Dyka (in this case, the above three modules are not mandatory):
- 11862 | Pervasive System Security
- 11863 | Hands-on Knowledge for Side-Channel Attacks
- Optional: 14035 | Application of Side-Channel Analysis Methods in the Early Design Phase of Cryptographic Implementations
No, this is not possible.
Moodle & Courses
No, we cannot. If your BTU account has not yet been activated, please contact the Admissions & Registrar’s Office: LINK
Courses will be available on Moodle at the beginning of the semester. Enrolment in the Moodle course is done manually by the teaching staff after the first lecture.
No. Registration on Moodle is not equivalent to exam registration. To register for the exam, use the online portal only. Further information is available here: LINK
At the Chair of Wireless Systems, all lectures and exams are normally conducted in person.
No. The Chair of Wireless Systems cannot register or deregister students for exams. Please contact the Admissions & Registrar’s Office: LINK
You will find the lecture slides, exercise materials, and any additional documents in the corresponding Moodle course.
Mandatory Internship
1) Internship recognition form – to be completed and signed before the internship begins. (further information can be found here: LINK)
2) Declaration of consent for content disclosure – confirming that relevant information may be used in the academic internship report. Please use the following text on the official letterhead of the supervising company and have it completed and signed by an authorized representative:
Dear Professor Langendörfer,
I, [Name], [Position], hereby confirm that [Student Name] is permitted to include in their internship report the information necessary for the academic evaluation of the tasks carried out and the solutions developed during their internship at our company.
We waive any confidentiality restrictions (so-called “Sperrvermerk”) in this context.
The internship must comprise at least 260 working hours to ensure sufficient hands-on experience.
It should last at least two months. If possible, it should be completed as a single block. One internship week corresponds to the weekly working hours at the respective company.
This is generally possible if the requirements of the BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg internship regulations are fulfilled.
Please send your internship report to your supervisor or to Elisabeth.Vogel@b-tu.de. Submission via Moodle is not possible.

After submitting the internship recognition form, signed by your supervisor, to the Examination Office (a scanned copy via email is sufficient), you will receive your credit points.
Please make sure to register your internship at least four weeks before the start date.
