Sienra Iracheta Estibaliz Academic Staff

Profile

Estibaliz Sienra Iracheta studied Textile Design at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where she developed a career in museums, cultural promotion, and textile heritages research. Her Doctoral thesis examined the phenomenon of ‘cultural appropriation’ of traditional textiles from 3 different artisan communities in Mexico. Her post-doc project intends to research the relationships between textile heritages and women from refugee, asylum-seeking, diaspora, and migrant communities.

She is interested in critical heritage perspectives, including multidisciplinary approaches (gender/sexuality, migration/mobility/critical race theories), transculturation processes, as well as qualitative research methodologies and dialogical research practices.
