Background and mission

The Functional Pharmacology and Toxicology Cluster has developed in the region. The cluster aims to explore the effects of drugs and xenobiotics on human cells and aims to enable safe and effective personalized drug treatments for patients.

The actors of the cluster are experts with many years of research, teaching and industrial experience in the relevant research areas.

Our common goals are:

the screening of pharmacologically active substances from fungi, microalgae and other resources

the investigation (in vitro) of the pharmacological efficacy of substances and drugs for various medical issues, such as tumor diseases or autoimmune reactions

use of cell cultures, fungi and microalgae in bioreactors for the production, modification or removal of drugs

use of cell-free systems for the production of drugs and fine chemicals

laboratory testing (in vitro) of toxic substances on humans and the environment

development of technical solutions for the detection and quantification of biomarkers

cooperation with regional and supra-regional companies as well as foundation and settlement of new companies in the region

Further education and participation of citizens (Citizen Science)
