Ph.D. A. P. Obafemi Olukoya

Ph.D. Olukoya Obafemi is a Research Associate and a Lecturer at the Chair of Environmental Planning, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg. He earned a Doctoral degree in Heritage Studies from Brandenburg Technical University, a Master degree in Architecture from Cyprus International University in Cyprus and a Bachelor degree in Architecture from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria.

His research interests focus on the conservation and management of (world) cultural and natural heritage in the context of climate change. He is involved in the teaching of Heritage Impact Assessment Module. He is a scientific member of ICOMOS International Committee on Vernacular Architecture (CIAV), International Association of Impact Assessment (IAIA), ICOMOS Nigeria, Association of Critical Heritage Studies, and the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (INTBAU). He is a German Academic Exchange (DAAD) Alumni.

Heritage Conservation and Site Management. This module focuses on  main concepts of cultural landscapes and its typologies and categories, according to the Operational Guidelines for the implementation of the World Heritage Convention.

M.A. Heritage Conservation and Site Management. The module focuses on Heritage Impact Assessment as “a process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and communicating the probable impacts of a current or proposed development policy or action on the cultural life, institutions and resources of communities, then integrating the findings and conclusions into the planning and decision-making process, with a view to mitigating adverse impacts and enhancing positive outcomes” (adapted based International Association of Impact Assessment - IAIA).
