Who can participate?

All students and employees of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as well as students of other universities are eligible to participate. In exceptional cases and if sufficient places are available, former employees and alumni may also participate in university sports upon presentation of their diploma for the first hour of the course. In addition, external participants may also participate if there are sufficient places available.

Will I get my money back if I do not participate?

No. No course fees will be refunded in case of non-participation.

Exception: refund due to illness / injury

  •     Only after presentation of a medical certificate
  •     At least 50% of the course dates must still be outstanding for admission
  •     Excluded are offers from and / or with cooperation partners or offers which use non-university sports facilities and for which user fees 
        per participant* must be paid to third parties.
Am I insured for university sports?

In the current Corona crisis, participation in online sports courses offered to BTU members is not insured through the Brandenburg Accident Insurance Fund.

Only after resuming regular business operations and thus normal sports activities are students and employees at designated university sports events insured through the Brandenburg Accident Insurance Fund. Outsiders and civil servants are not subject to this general insurance coverage.

External persons, even if they are properly enrolled in a university sports course, are not insured through the Brandenburg Accident Insurance Fund. In this case the statutory or private accident insurance should be used. It is recommended that all sportsmen and women make sure they have sufficient accident and health insurance and liability insurance.

Are there other guidelines regarding accidents and insurance?

d) Persons affected by an accident are personally responsible for reporting it to the office of the HSP. It must be done within three working days.

Glass bottles are also prohibited. The sports facilities must be used with appropriate and clean shoes and equipment.

Participation in the HSP does not give rise to any liability against the university or its employees beyond the legal liability. The use of all facilities identified by the program of the HSP is at your own risk. Neither the state nor the university is liable for accidents or damages of any kind, including theft, etc.

Is a trial training or an introductory lesson possible?

No. A trial training or a trial lesson is not possible for organizational reasons. Only registered persons can take part in the university sports program.

What happens if courses are cancelled or cancelled?

The university sport Cottbus - Senftenberg can combine or cancel offers if there are too few registrations. In the event that an offer is cancelled without substitution, the participant will be refunded the fee paid.

If individual course dates are cancelled, e.g. due to illness of the instructor, the university sports department will try to find a substitute or, if necessary, offer catch-up dates (see also Cancellation of sports courses without claim for compensation).

Cancellation of sports events without entitlement to compensation:

  • if the course day falls on a public holiday,
  • if the course administration is prevented and the university sport Cotbus - Senftenberg does not succeed in finding a qualified substitute at short notice or in offering alternative events or catch-up dates,
  • in case of disruptions in the operating process (due to construction work, repairs, etc.),
  • if the respective sports facility is occupied by competitions, tournaments, further education or other events,
  • due to weather conditions and
  • in case of force majeure.
How does the waiting list work?

If a course is fully booked, there is the possibility of registering with the e-mail address on the "waiting list" and thus registering with the university sports notification service. As soon as a place in the desired course becomes available, all persons on the waiting list will be informed simultaneously by e-mail. The person who makes the first booking receives the free course place.

How can I contact the trainer?

For reasons of data protection, the e-mail addresses of the course instructors cannot be given out to participants.

To contact us please send an e-mail to sport(at)b-tu.de . This will be forwarded to the respective trainer.

What happens if you have lost / not printed the registration confirmation?

The confirmation of participation is displayed as an HTML page - i.e. Internet page. This format can be saved, printed and sent on any computer and requires no additional software. If the confirmation is no longer available, you can contact the secretary's office of the University Sports Department by e-mail. They will send you a new confirmation of participation.

It is also possible to show the confirmation of registration to the trainer by cell phone.

What happens if you cannot attend a date of the booked event?

This circumstance is a personal decision and does not justify a claim for reimbursement.

How is my personal data secured?

The University Sports Department processes the personal data of the participants only to the extent necessary for the respective contract and in compliance with data protection regulations.

The account data will be stored until the amount is debited. If a course is booked in the new period, they must be re-entered.

What conditions apply to the participation of minors?

The minimum age for participation in university sports courses is usually 18 years. The following regulations apply to the participation of minors:

1. children under 16 years

Children and adolescents up to the age of 16 years are generally not allowed to participate in university sports. Exceptions are regulated with the head of the university sports department.

2. participants between the ages of 16 and 17 - also enrolled students

Adolescents aged 16-17 years require the consent of a parent or guardian to participate. Participation may be denied by the University Sports Department if reasons arising from the young person's person or behavior or the specific requirements of the offer/sport of the event speak against participation. Like all non-university members, the persons addressed here are not insured against accidents or liability when participating in university sports.

In any case, a declaration of consent must be filled out.
